sales

Hi everyone, did you all have a great Halloween? I have to say that i didnt go as all out as i usually do with my costume, opting to chose a bit of fake blood and a tudor-esque printed dress, but we did go out to Soho House and see lots of fantastic outfits and there were wonderful flame throwers!!

So tomorrow, my shop page will be going live on my website www.wix.com/emmadurnell /illustrator. If you fancy giving a framed original as a gift for that someone special this Christmas, then have a little look and get in touch via the contact form. Also, look out for some brand new work appearing in November. I'm really really into monochrome at the moment so for those of you who love something a bit catchy and dramatic then watch this space!

Much Love,

Em xx

Enchanted...

i always feel very happy at this time of year. As much as i adore the summer and its delicious smells and colours, the approach of the autumn months fills me with a cosy, festive cheer... hurrah! In my opinion, the autumn months bring more inspiration, flamboyance and luxury to fashion.Last week i was out with a friend when we passed one of my favourite places- Fortnum&Mason in Piccadilly. the window display they have for Christmas is just divine and i instantly felt inspired by the pure luxury. Twisted branches and cubby holes carved out of glittering trees took me back to the stories of The Magic Faraway Tree and the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. as soon as i saw the displays, i wanted to get home to start sketching my own ideas taken from the festive, cosy scenes. I am now currently designing a set of christmas cards and began researching the work of other artists and illustrators...my recurring favourite being the "cut&paste" collage style of the fabulous Julie Verhoeven (see pics)...check back this week to catch up on my sketches...comments of course will be most welcome!!
